Mike Mauldin
Chairman

I am a native Atlantan, growing up in the “Big City”, but I spent many weekends at my grandparents and cousins farms in Northeast Georgia, hunting, fishing, riding horses, swimming in nearby Lake Hartwell, and developing a love for the outdoors.  My father had a passion for gardening and bird hunting, both of which I still do today.  I am blessed with a wonderful wife Peggy, and two smart, hardworking Christian sons, Michael and Brian.  I have a BBA in Management from Georgia State University, but that came about only after working ten years in the electric utility business and realizing a college degree might be beneficial.  I now have thirty years with Georgia Power Company and I’m currently working in the Outdoor Lighting Sales Department.  Prayer has been a big part of my life as I watched my mom pray for the safe return of my brother serving our country in Vietnam, or for her recovery from health problems, and even for my wife who was told she would never walk after having a spinal tumor, but God heard and answered all these prayers.  Prayer is the most important part of our CSM Ministry of which I am blessed to be a part of.  I love my Christian brothers and their passion to serve the Lord in this ministry.

Discipleship/Evanglisim Coordinator and Treasurer

Born in Athens, GA while my father completed his degree at the University of Georgia. I have a BBA in Finance, an MBA with an emphasis in MIS and Real Estate, and a Varsity letter in football from the University of Georgia. I accepted Jesus Christ in 1984 while attending Chapel Heights Baptist Church in Decatur, GA. I am married, have three children, one on the way and we are also adopting a baby girl from China. I enjoy the fall because it brings the changing of the leaves, hunting season, and the DAWGS back "Between the Hedges." I currently work at Bank of America as a Process Design Consultant and practice Six Sigma methodologies to achieve process efficiencies and optimization. I have been serving as CSM Treasurer since 2006.

George Heyen
Secretary

Born in San Antonio, Texas on March 6, 1938, I received my first rifle at age seven and have been a hunter since then.  I received a BS degree in Biology from Trinity University and a MPA in Pubic Administration/Political Science from UGA.  While in what we call VBS now, I accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior in 1942.  I am married and have two children and one grandson who I am teaching to enjoy hunting and fishing.  I spent seven years in military (Army Medical Service Corp) and served at Fort Benning with 2 Infantry Division, Korea with 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Bragg with 55th Medical Group, 18th Airborne Corp, Dominican Republic with 55th Medical Group, and 55th Medical Group and 32nd Medical Depot in Viet Nam.  I was ordained as Deacon in 1989.  I have been part of CSM since inception, serving in an officer position both as Secretary and as Treasurer.

Born in Atlanta GA and moved to Athens when I was 6 years old. I grew up playing alot of golf and baseball with my dad and brother and really did not get into hunting and fishing until I was a senior in high school. A friend took me deer hunting and I was lucky enough to get a 3 pointer my very first time in the field. Man I have been hooked ever since. Recently though through my friend Ernie he has gotten me into duck hunting and I would rather do that than any other type of hunting now. I have been happily married since 1988 and have 2 terriffic boys Jake and Max. Out of high school I worked for my dad who owns an electrical contracting company which he started in 1971. After about 14 years I decided to do my own thing and started building houses and doing remodels for a living. About 3 years ago I partnered with Ernie Mitchell Jr. and we now build houses, rennovations and remodels of all sorts. It is a real blessings to have a partner who is also a christian and part of this ministry. I became a christian as a young boy and as many do I fell away from doing the things I knew I should. I have rededicated myself a couple of times but through this Ministry I have really found what God wants me to be doing. He has allowed me to find a group of christian men who truly love the outdoors but more importantly love God. This bond with these men helps me to stay on task for the Lord and with regular meetings and activities I guess that helps me stay accountable. I love these men, this ministry and above all my Savior Jesus Christ. Please feel free to email me and join us for fun, fellowship, food, and of course to learn more about God through His wonderful outdoors.

I was born in Atlanta, GA in 1958. My family moved there from Columbus, GA for my dad’s job, but we returned to Columbus a year after my birth. I grew up in Columbus, graduating from Columbus High School and Columbus College (now Columbus State University) with a BA in history. I was married in 1982 to Kathy Adams and, upon my graduation from college in 1985, received my commission into the U. S. Army as a second lieutenant. I served on active duty for 11 years which included tours of duty in the Republic of Panama (where two of my three children were born), Ft. Stewart, GA (where my third child was born and I served as a company commander), Ft. Polk, LA, Ft. Gordon, GA, and a combat tour during Desert Storm in Iraq. I left active duty in 1996 and transitioned into the Individual Ready Reserve, where I currently hold the rank of Major. I started my second career as an educator in 1997. My first teaching job was at Josey High School in Augusta, GA where I taught Social Studies for five years. During that time I earned my master’s degree from Troy State University in Educational Leadership. In 2002, I moved to the Athens, GA area to take a job as assistant principal at Cedar Shoals High School in Athens, where I currently work. During my time at Cedar Shoals, I earned a specialist’s degree in Educational Leadership from Augusta State University.

God has truly blessed my life. Of all the blessings he has bestowed on me, clearly the most significant is my eternal salvation through his son, Jesus Christ. Next is the gift of my wife, Kathy, followed closely by the blessings of three wonderful children; Rebecca, Charlton, and Kathryn. I also thank God for allowing me to enjoy the blessing of his creation through my outdoor experiences, and for my Christian brothers in CSM who share my passion for the outdoors and my love of Christ.
